Our Material is a EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene-Monomer) synthetic rubber waterproof membrane manufactured by the worlds' largest EPDM manufacturers...Hertel, who are based in Holland.

The material was actually developed during the 1950's when flat roofs were really coming into there own.  Laboratory tests were carried out to establish the fact that there is nothing in the atmosphere that will damage this material (such as acid rain, ozone, and particularly ultra violet light). Therefore, nothing else needs to go on top of the membrane.

The Benefits of the Hertalan fabric are as follows;

Longevity - Hertalan is offered with a 20 year factory guarantee.  However, we have roofs fitted in the 1960's still showing no signs of ageing.

Flexibility - Hertalan is highly elastic and will accommodate any movements imposed on the roof covering by building movement and will stretch up to 500% without damage and will fully recover

Temperature - Hertalan is not affected by extremes of temperature and is stable from -50'C to +200'C

Breathable - Hertalan is 'vapour permeable'.  It allows the roofing timber to breathe naturally whilst keeping your roof watertight.

Maintenance - Once installed, a Hertalan roof requires little or no maintenance, depending on on the type of installation.

Flexibility - The Hertalan membrane is not just a roof covering but can also be utilised for other purposes - giving you more leisure space to your property.  Just some of the options are;

Lawn - you really can grow a living lawn on your Hertalan roof without it affecting its breathable or waterproof qualities.

Finishes - you can dress the roof with decorative pebbles (see picture), decking, astroturf etc.

Water Features - your roof could be turned into a fish pond or a decorative water feature
